윤병락 작가는 1968년 경북 영천 출신으로 경북대학교 서양화과를 전공하고 동 대학원을 졸업하였다. 그는 제 18회 대구미술대전대상을 수상하면서 진가를 인정받기 시작했다. 그의 작품은 그 자체가 오브제화 돼 굴러떨어질 것만 같은 작품 속 사과를 프레임 밖 외부 공간으로까지 확장시키는 것이 특징이다. 또한 사각형의 정형화된 캔버스가 아닌, 직접 2차 변형·제작한 화판을 사용해 실감 나는 사과를 그려낸다. 변형 화판의 번잡한 윤곽선이 사과를 더욱 입체적으로 돋보이도록 함과 동시에 가상과 현실의 경계를 모호하게 만들어 마치 사과가 실존 공간으로 튀어나온 것처럼 보이게 한다. 그에게 사과란 추억이자 향수를 불러일으키는 고향과 같은 존재라며 즐겁고 행복한 마음으로 사과 그림을 그려왔다고 한다. 관람객도 그와 똑같은 행복감을 그림에서 느끼길 바라며 작품 활동을 이어오고 있다. 사실주의 대표적인 화가로 2010년 개인전을 비롯해 대구, 서울, 오사카, 프랑스에서 20여차례의 개인전을 가졌고, 매 전시때마다 작품이 솔드아웃 되서 '솔드아웃 작가' 라는 별명을 가지고 있다.

Byungrock Yoon, born in 1968 in Yeongcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, majored in Painting at Kyungbuk National University and graduated from its graduate school. He began to gain recognition by winning the 18th Daegu Art Exhibition Grand Prize. His works are characterized by expanding the essence of the apple in the artwork, which seems like it could roll off, beyond the frame and into the external space. Furthermore, he uses personally transformed and manufactured panels, not the standardized rectangular canvas, to depict realistic apples. The intricate contours of the transformed panels make the apples stand out more three-dimensionally and blur the boundaries between the virtual and reality, making it seem as if the apples are popping out into the actual space. He has depicted apples with joy and happiness, considering them as a presence reminiscent of memories and nostalgia, much like his hometown. Hoping that viewers can feel the same happiness from his artwork, he continues his artistic activities. As a representative artist of realism, he has held over 20 solo exhibitions in Daegu, Seoul, Osaka, and France, including a solo exhibition in 2010. His works have been sold out at every exhibition, earning him the nickname 'Sold-Out Artist.'
