ARTIST STATEMENT

영국 런던을 기반으로 활동하고 있는 마크 슬로퍼는 직접 제작하는 네온 조명과 오래된 깃발이나 의류 등 더 이상 의미를 잃은 것들의 활용을 통해, 이들에게 새로운 생명을 부여함과 동시에 펑크 락과 문화에 대한 아티스트 스스로의 뿌리와 열정, 태도, 문화적 역동성에 대한 이야기를 그려내고 있다. 마크 슬로퍼의 작품은 섹스 피스톨즈 뿐만 아니라 엘튼 존, 보이 조지, 대니 디어, 트레이 파커 등 세계적인 뮤지션들과 배우들에 의해 소장된 바 있다.

Based in London, England, Mark Sloper uses neon lights that he makes himself and old flags and clothing that have lost their meaning, giving them new life, and telling stories about the artist's own roots, passions, attitudes and cultural dynamism in punk rock and culture. Mark Sloper's work has been collected by the Sex Pistols, as well as international musicians and actors including Elton John, Boy George, Danny Dyer and Trey Parker.
